Aftermath, a biohazard remediation company, hosts a series of contests throughout the year. The most popular is their K9 contest. The contest specifically targets partners in law enforcement, offering $5,000 to the winner for their K9 unit or safety training. In the first 3 years, the contest was directed to law enforcement across the country, inviting them to fill out a printed form and mail it in to be selected at random to win the big prize. But as the contest was turning four last year, we thought it was time to shake things up.
We took the effort online. We created a new landing page and revised the printed flier. Then we promoted the contest digitally, through paid advertising on social media and through a strategic social media plan and email campaign. The results were astounding; the campaign yielded a 4600% increase from the previous year’s participation. The client was so pleased with its success that they decided to award an additional $1,000 to the second-place winner.
